Choose the Firmness That's Right for You

Buying a new mattress seems complicated. Go Rest aims to change this.

Buying a mattress online might seem like an impossible feat, especially if you are trying to choose between different firmnesses of each layer - and doing it without actually testing it out in a showroom.

But even if you spend time lying on mattresses in a showroom you still might not be able to determine what the correct firmness is best for you. It's really not that difficult to specify the correct firmness if we know your weight and sleeping position preferences.

Go Rest wants to make it as easy as possible to help you choose the best firmness for your needs.

How to select the correct firmness

When buying a mattress, many people think that selecting a firmer mattress than they actually need is the best thing to do because they think that a firmer mattress will last longer. This is not simply true, especially in the case of organic latex, or foam in general. The density of organic latex does not change in firmness, even over time an extended period of time. And, as latex lasts well over 25 years.

The correct specification of the individual layers of latex that make up a Go Rest mattress depends on a few important factors - your weight, your primary and secondary sleeping positions and your comfort preferrence. It stands to reason that if you are in a lighter weigh class, you would likely require a less firm system of support.

Sleeping Positions

Sleeping position is the next major factor. Most of us change sleeping positions during the night, but you'll likely know your preferred position, whether it's lying on your side, front or your back. You might alternate your position, and switch back and forth to a secondary position.

Front Sleepers

Stomach sleepers need support for their hips and good support to keep their spine in alignment. Latex is perfect, in that it offers pressure relief caused by when you turn your head to one either side and provides even weight distribution.

Back Sleepers

Back sleepers find comfort with even, consistent support and should choose support between the medium to medium-firm range. Lighter people often prefer a more soft feel, while those who are heavier might feel most comfortable on firmer surfaces.

Side Sleepers

Side sleepers may find that many traditional types of mattresses are too firm, and they might even find it causes their arms to go numb after a while. A softer mattress will allow your arms and shoulders to sink in more and provide more pressure relief.

Weight

Not surprisingly, your weight is the one of the most important factors in selecting the correct firmness of latex mattress layers. Generally, the heavier you are, the firmer support you'll need. This is offset by the comfort level you want.

The various layers of the Go Rest mattress give you the ability to select the support you need and the comfort level you desire. The split core layer feature in our customizable models allows you to get individual, customized support and comfort. Since all layers are interchangeable, a Go Rest mattress will be able to be further customized in the years ahead, as your needs might change.

It's all up to you how you want to customize your sleep. But, if you're still wondering what the best firmness is for you, please make an appointment with one of the Go Rest experts by scheduling a call back when it suits you.
